By popular demand, we have brought back our popular Derwent Descent Package for 1 or 2 persons twin share.
The Derwent Descent is a luxury experience near Hobart, Tasmania. A soft-adventure guided kayak trip with guests transferring from one luxury hotel to the next.

What is the deal?
This epic adventure has you staying up-river at Truffle Lodge for the first two nights.
On Day 3, after breakfast, you will kayak down river to The Woodbridge for the second part of your stay.
While you are on the river in transit, you may see platypus and sea eagles, and will cross several low-medium grade rapids. Your guides are highly experienced and all equipment is provided.
The kayaking experience is approximately 5 hours.
While you are on the river, you will be treated to a riverside hot tea, morning tea and light lunch breaks.
Various pick-up points are planned along the river. You will be collected from the river and taken to check in at The Woodbridge.
Before you left Truffle lodge, staff will have asked you to prepare a small bag with a change of clothes. Staff will transfer this to your room at The Woodbridge so you can freshen up.
After all that activity, you will be peckish. So, after a shower & change, you will enjoy afternoon tea under the almond trees.
Maybe then a quick snooze?
Later in the day, we will arrange to get you back to Truffle Lodge to collect your car. (Despite the course meandering for 5 hours on the river, it is only a 15 minute drive)
How hard is the Kayaking?
The kayaking is all downstream with the current, and is easy going. Most will be able to manage it but:
- you do have to be able to get in and out of the kayak
- you must be able to swim
Guides are fully accredited, insured and experienced. Everything is provided:
- tandem or 2 person kayaks are available on request
- wear warm lightweight clothes. Waterproofs and lifejackets will be worn over the top.
This package is a minimum 4 night stay. You can extend the stay at either or both properties for a long as you wish, subject to availability.
This package may also be combined with any other package at either property.
We can also add additional experiences for either property to your package.

This package Includes :
- Set-menu Breakfast each morning during your stay at both properties
- Set-menu 2++ course Dinner each night during your stay at both properties (beverages additional*)
- Kayaking experience with Morning tea & Lunch on the river and Afternoon Tea under the almond trees on arrival at The Woodbridge
- All equipment for kayaking
(*not all guests drink alcohol, so we have elected to make beverages additional rather than have an all inclusive package)
